Short Synopsis: A musical about life’s crossroads. Ashley is hitchhiking to follow her dreams. While on the road she stumbles upon Darren, another hitchhiker, who is leaving the big city and trying to come back to reality. Though Darren warns her
city life isn’t all it’s out to be, Ashley is determined to follow her ambitions and not stay with Darren. She walks out on him during the night, never to see the boy she loves again.
Submission Instructions: We are accepting submissions from both singers, and lipsyncers. If singing, please prepare one song for auditions, either from a musical or alternative rock/pop song. Either bring CD to play as accompaniment, or bring sheet music for pianist to play along to. If lip-syncing, please bring in a CD with a song you will lipsync to. Auditions are open to all demographics, unless otherwise specified.
Please submit by phone, e-mail, or fax. Thank you.
[ASHLEY ROBINSON] [SINGING ROLE] [FEMALE] [AGE: 17-26]
Ashley is a dreamer; she has had many pipe dreams run through her head, and this time she’s finally gotten up the courage to leave her small boring hometown and hitchhike to bigger and better places. Life has never been exciting enough for Ashley, and she’s out to finally find her freedom in the real world, or what she imagines is the real world. She’s always been very inspired by hippies and beatniks, and sees life as an adventure and opportunity.
[DARREN SNOW] [SINGING ROLE] [MALE] [AGE: 20-29]
Darren is hitching a ride back home. He spent too many years trying to chase down an empty dream in the downtown city, and he’s tired of it. Darren’s discovered that there’s really nothing there except liars and cheats, and all he wants is to go back to a world where people aren’t deceitful, where life is truthful back in a small town. While traveling he stumbles upon Ashley, and is enticed by her innocence and passion.
[MOTEL LOBBY CLERK] [NON-SINGING ROLE] [MALE] [AGE: 30-50]
The disgruntled clerk has gone a little crazy from dealing with disgruntled customers at the motel, but happens to speak a little truth by mistake about Darren and Ashley’s relationship.
