The Real Inspector Hound by Tom Stoppard

CRITICS KIDNAPPED !!

VANCOUVER, BC - January 08, 2003, Esdecy Arts and The Cast of The Real Inspector Hound pulled off what many in Vancouver have been dreaming of for years. On January 06, 2003 they kidnapped, bound and gagged the city's top theatre critics for crimes against theatre. Captured for their crimes were: Peter Birnie (Vancouer Sun), Colin Thomas (Georgia Straight), Jo Ledingham (Vancouver Courier) and Martin Millerchip (North Shore News).

Actor David C. Jones, playing a critic himself in The Real Inspector Hound, introduced the captives to an angry mob. Testimonials were heard from actors Diana Frances of Rock-Paper-Scissors, Jennifer Paterson of The Polliwog Factory and Stephen E. Miller (Arts Club). All with touching stories of how the cruel and heartless writers have ruthlessly harmed their fragile egos..er..lives.

As Actor Tristan Ham lead the crowd in cries for more, Actor Bernard Cuffling arrived to plead for the release of the critics and reasoned with the crowd for mercy and understanding.

Seán Cummings, the founder of Esdecy Arts and the architect of the kidnapping, was estatic with the results of the event. "ÃŒ can`t believe we pulled this off", said the smiling Actor, "these guys have been great...people will be talking about this for years".

Before doing serious damage to the critics, Jones agreed to let them go in time for opening night of Tom Stoppard's The Real Inspector Hound. Playing January 10th to the 25th at Presentation House Theatre.
