groundwater productions is proud to present Wallace Shawn's controversial investigation of the politics of desire, A Thought In Three Parts, at the 2007 Summerworks Festival.  Directed by Brendan Healy, and produced by Gideon Arthurs, A Thought In Three Parts will run August 2-12 with part time evening rehearsals beginning in May.

Brief Synopsis - A Thought In Three Parts is structured around a temporal perspective on sexual relations - before, during and after - represented by each act. The first act, Summer Evening, represents a couple's elaborate verbal preparation of foreplay. Sex becomes a verbally obstructed engagement; it is all about not being in that moment. yet. The second act, Youth Hostel, on the other hand, is all about being there. For the group of young men and women onstage, sex is immediate and everything presents ready sexual access. The final act, Mr. Frivolous, represents an onanistic withdrawal of the self after the sexual act. In re-experiencing a past sexual conquest, the character retreats into a private world of solipsistic frivolity - completely alone.
